StressTide is designed to help students track tasks, deadlines, and stress patterns. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.

Information We Collect

StressTide may collect or store information that you enter into the app, including:

  • Tasks
  • Deadlines and due dates
  • Task difficulty levels
  • Stress scores
  • Stress-related inputs and logs
  • App settings and preferences
  • AI chat messages, if you choose to use AI Insights
  • Optional profile information, such as display name, study hours, focus window, comfort goal, and other app preferences

StressTide does not require users to enter highly sensitive personal information. Users should not enter private, medical, financial, legal, or other sensitive personal information into tasks, deadlines, or AI chat messages.

How We Collect

StressTide collects information directly from you when you use the app. This may happen when you:

  • Add, edit, or delete tasks
  • Add, edit, or delete deadlines
  • Choose difficulty levels
  • View or update stress-related inputs
  • Change app settings
  • Use analytics or prediction features
  • Type messages into AI Chat
  • Choose to share stress context with AI Insights

How We Use Information

  • Calculating stress scores
  • Showing task and deadline impact
  • Displaying analytics and stress trends
  • Providing stress predictions
  • Saving your app preferences
  • Generating optional AI insights if you choose to use the AI feature

AI Insights and Third-Party AI Service

StressTide includes an optional AI feature called AI Insights. If you choose to use AI Insights, selected information may be sent to Google Gemini, a third-party AI service, to generate responses, suggestions, or stress-related insights. Information that may be sent to Google Gemini includes:

  • Messages you type in AI Chat
  • Tasks and deadlines you choose to share
  • Task difficulty levels
  • Due dates and schedule-related details
  • Stress scores and stress-related information
  • App settings or preferences relevant to the AI response

User Permission Before Sharing

StressTide does not send your stress context or AI chat information to Google Gemini unless you give permission inside the app. Before using AI Insights or sharing stress-related context with AI, StressTide displays an in-app notice explaining:

  • What data may be sent with user permission
  • That the data is sent to Google Gemini
  • That Google Gemini is a third-party AI service
  • That the data is used to generate AI responses or insights

You can choose not to use AI Insights. If you do not give permission, StressTide will not send your selected stress-related information to Google Gemini.

Local Storage

StressTide stores app data locally on your device where possible. This may include tasks, deadlines, stress scores, app settings, and preferences. If you delete the app, locally stored app data may also be deleted from your device, depending on your device settings and operating system behavior.

Third Party Protection

When StressTide sends selected information to Google Gemini for AI processing, that information is handled by Google according to Google’s applicable privacy and data protection practices. StressTide aims to share only the information needed to provide the AI feature. Users should avoid entering sensitive personal information into AI Chat or shared stress context.

Data Retention and Deletion

StressTide keeps app data for as long as it is needed to provide app features or until you delete it. You can delete tasks and deadlines inside the app. You can also delete app data by uninstalling the app from your device.

Children's Privacy

StressTide is not intended to collect personal information from children under the age required by applicable law. If you believe that a child has provided personal information through StressTide, please contact us so we can review and address the issue.

Changes to Privacy Policy

StressTide may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
